About the Author

Leroy J. Barrett III

Leroy J. Barrett III has been a performer his entire life, but his writing works have had an interesting journey. After winning an

elementary school poetry award, he went on to become a rap emcee five years later in 1984. His Detroit rap group, the

Eveready Crew, released a single ‘Who ‘Dat Say We Ain’t Eveready’ in 1986. His lyrical arsenal was replete with vivid and compelling

stories. Ultimately, he located a creative partner in college and their penchant for rap lyrics morphed into scripts for film and television. Years later, Leroy’s ‘Dying to Learn’ film won 32 international film festivals. His film success catapulted him into authorship: he was contracted to write the biography The Organism: Busara’s Gambit in 2021. Both his book and

award-winning film were funded because of his friend and brother, Arnold J. Hogue, Jr. Leroy hopes to adequately pay tribute to Arnold with Brother Wonder Never Quits, this

endearing posthumous biographic book series.

The Inspiration for Brother Wonder Book Series

From reading books to being a jungle gym, singing in glee club to drum lines, and rocking in college to conquering adult challenges, join Brother Wonder (Arnold J. Hogue, Jr.) in his life full of exciting adventures. As Brother Wonder overcomes obstacle after obstacle, one thing becomes vividly clear:

Brother Wonder is a warm caricature of Arnold J. "Joe" Hogue, Jr. Brother Wonder Never Quits is the inaugural book of an annual series. Each book, every story is a chapter of Arnold's lived experiences. Joe lived a life filled with daunting challenges, yet none deterred him. He shared his undying spirit by immeasurably giving aid to anyone in need, lending a strong shoulder to those in distress and providing mentorship to those who were lost. This children's book series commemorates his life story in honor of his selfless dedication and generous charitable work with kids. Arnold was a brilliant and amazing man who epitomized the word 'faithful'. It is for these reasons that his efforts will live on through the Brother Wonder series.
